FINRA lists a $100 Series 82 exam fee. That charge pays for the exam, not a prep course, and does not include a separate SIE attempt. Check the current FINRA fee table before your firm enrolls you.

How much does the Series 82 exam cost?

The listed Series 82 qualification-exam fee is $100. Your sponsoring firm handles the enrollment process and can explain whether it pays directly, reimburses you, or expects you to cover certain expenses. Don’t assume the person studying is always the person paying the invoice.

The exam fee is separate from registration-related charges, a test-prep purchase, travel to a test center, and any scheduling-change charges. A job offer or firm training policy may cover several of those items, but the FINRA exam-price row does not promise that coverage.

What if you still need the SIE?

FINRA lists the SIE fee at $100 as well. A candidate who needs one attempt at each exam should therefore budget $200 for those two exam fees alone, using the current listed amounts. A candidate with a valid SIE result generally does not need to pay for another SIE attempt just because they are adding Series 82; have the firm confirm the record.

For example, a firm that reimburses only after a passing result may leave you funding the initial fees yourself. Ask about that timing before you schedule. The requirements guide covers sponsorship and the SIE corequisite.

Is Series 82 prep included in the exam fee?

No. FINRA exam enrollment and commercial study materials are separate. CertFuel’s Series 82 course is currently available in Free Beta. That describes the current course offer, not a permanent-free commitment or a change to FINRA’s exam fee.

The public practice test and cheat sheet require no account. Use them to identify gaps, but don’t treat a single fixed question set as the entire preparation process. Repeatedly recognizing an answer is easier than solving an unfamiliar question.

Do retakes and appointment changes cost extra?

A failed attempt does not purchase unlimited exam attempts. Confirm the new enrollment charge and applicable waiting period with your firm before planning a retake. The basic budget example for two Series 82 attempts is $200 in exam fees at the current listed rate, before any other charges.

Appointment changes have their own policy. FINRA’s rescheduling and cancellation policy ties charges to when the change is made. Read the current policy and appointment confirmation instead of assuming a change is free because you have not taken the exam yet.

What should you ask your firm before paying?

Ask which fees are covered, whether reimbursement depends on a pass, and how the firm handles a missed appointment or retake. Get the answers before buying materials or choosing a test date.

Then build a realistic study schedule. Protecting enough time to prepare can be more useful than booking the first available appointment and paying to move it later.
